Volunteer

Community Seed is made up of a diverse group of dedicated professionals representing a variety of top organizations. Our members bring a breadth of expertise and experience in non-profit and private enterprise. Community Seed’s strength is its human resources.

Our services require a wide variety of skill sets and competencies, including organizational analysis, strategic planning, project management, marketing, branding and digital media expertise. Community Seed volunteers need not have a consulting or business background.

If you are looking to join a talented, enthusiastic and young organization with potential to achieve real and meaningful positive change, you have come to the right place. We need strong skills and good people just as much as our Community Partners. If you are interested in joining the Community Seed family, please Contact Us or How do I join? to learn more.

Consultants
Our consultants work together on specific, impactful projects for and with a Community Partner. We train you, team you up with appropriate Community Seed consultants and work with you to create project guidelines.
Knowledge Leadership
Community Seed has an enthusiastic research component and is always looking to partner with knowledge institutions and studious individuals to conduct meaningful analysis in non-profit endeavors. Don’t hesitate to Contact Us to discuss how we might coordinate knowledge resources and collection.
Executive Team and Industry Experts
Community Seed needs a wide variety of industry experts to inform our efforts. Join us and utilize your knowledge for good.

How do I join?

Community Seed consultants are driven, talented and socially conscious. We choose our volunteers carefully. After all, you choose us carefully, as do our Community Partners.

All we need is 15 minutes to get to know you better. Fill in our online application describing your skills, experience and interests.

Consultant Selection Process:

  1. Interview: Once you submit your online application, select applicants will be invited for an interview to see if there is a fit for one of our Community Partners. The interview will be 30 minutes and held in downtown Toronto.
  2. Consultant Selection: We wish we could take everyone, but sometimes that doesn’t always work out. Based on demand and available projects, we’ll reach out to those who are successful. We encourage re-application.
  3. Project Selection: We’ll work with you to understand your interest areas and match you with a project based project availability and current Community Partners. Using your input, and the input of our other consultants, we’ll put you on a team with other fantastic volunteers.
  4. Initial Training: We’ll set you up with everything you need to successfully deliver your project. Here, you will meet your team, as well as key mentors who will help you throughout the project process.
  5. Project Begins: Meet your Community Partner, and make an impact.

What are my options?

Projects range by impact goal and Community Partner, as well as duration.

We currently offer…

Short-Term:
Short and sweet. 2 – 4 month engagements, with the same team for the duration of the project.
Mid-Term:
Larger Impact. 4- 8 month project, typically with the same team for the duration of the project.
Seed to Tree:
Our unique program for Community Partners looking for a true partnership. These projects are 8+ months in duration, usually with some change in the team, shorter defined ‘phases’ that may include an initial assessment and road map, and implementation. This type of program is reserved for dedicated Community Partners willing to make a long-term commitment to a large-scale impact.

Consider your availability, interest and other commitments when determining which options are right for you. We are continually growing our offering and options. Check back frequently for updates.
